Layout and Features

The first thing you notice is the green colouration. The general layout is good, the atx power connector along the edge of the board means no trailing cables over the cpu socket. The one thing that did disappoint me upon looking at it for the first time is the annoying placement of the Dimm slots. Nearly impossible to operate with a full sized agp card like the TI4600 in the AGP socket.

So let's examine the board in more detail. The position of both the power connectors and ide cables are good. They're close to the edges so the cables are easily tucked away helping airflow around the case.

There is enough space around the CPU socket to fit very large coolers, I fitted the Alpha pal 8942 without any difficulty. Another feature is the very large passive Northbridge heatsink, as there are no overclocking features this will easily cope with the heat from the Northbridge with slight case airflow and for those people with sensitivity to noise 1 less source.

The 2 DDR DIMM slots can take a maximum of 2GB of system memory. Remember though that if you want to take the memory out you'll more than likely need to remove the AGP card, as the locking tab will not fully extend with a large card in.

The 6 PCI slots give plenty of upgradeability, and if you use the onboard features there is plenty of space to dissipate heat.
