BIOS
SOYO have taken their distinctive approach to the BIOS. Based largely on a standard Phoenix setup, SOYO have made a few in-house adjustments.
Here's the main configuration screen. The FSB can be manipulated in 1MHz increments from 133 - 165FSB for Northwood B processors. That's a little disappointing as other chipsets offer up to 200MHz (CPU willing). The system performance can be set to pre-defined settings such as 'Normal', 'Fast', and Turbo. Interestingly, the CPU multipliers go from 8x to a whopping 50x.
The DRAM clock can be set to either SPD, 133, 166, or 200MHz. I must note that the latter is offered but unsupported officially. I've shown the maximum voltages on offer for the CPU, AGP, and DDR respectively. There's a reasonable amount of adjustment available. You can also see some of the features on offer at the bottom of the above screen.
The Advance Tune-up settings sub-page is where you can tweak your DDR to your heart's delight. It looks much like this:
What I've shown are the timings I used for testing at DDR33 speeds. Although a CAS Latency of 1.5 clocks is available, the DRAGON refused to boot. Thankfully, some excellent Corsair XMS3200 C2 allowed be to run at the timings shown above.
The BIOS, in all other respects, is normal. It's intuitive, easy-to-navigate, and should please most people. So far, so good.
