Software Bundle

The first thing I wanted to check out upon opening the box was the software provided to make good use of the features provided by the hardware and to get your started. The software bundle is something I usually overlook since I have all the apps I need for everything I do but it's worth a look here.

Games wise you get 3 full games (Rogue Spear and Aquanox the two notable titles) and a few demos but nothing to set the world alight.

WinFox II lets you overclock and change settings on the Ti4200 and it's also capable of doing basic hardware monitoring on the graphics card in terms of temperature display but the A250 LE TD version of the Ti4200 doesn't have the hardware monitoring capabilities that the TDH version does.

O.T.S is the hardware monitoring application for the motherboard to let you check fan speeds, temperatures and voltage lines.

You also get a copy of a WinFast DVD for taking advantage of the excellent TV-Out capabilities on the graphics card and for playing your titles on the monitor.

Nothing super exciting and I'd replace the hardware monitoring and DVD player applications personally but they are definitely passable and let you get started. No optical out on the motherboard for supporting AC3 output from the APU to a decoder but for the price, that's excusable.

Tacked on the end of all that is the ubiquitous set of drivers for all the onboard hardware. A decent software bundle and enough to let you use what you get to a decent level without having to hunt around for other software.

What about installing and using the hardware?
