Comanche 4 and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter

Novalogic are the creators of the graphically intensive Comanche 4 helicopter action sim and thoughtfully (or for marketing reasons?) decided to add a benchmarking mode to the demo. This lets us see how a shader heavy game should perform on todays systems, in this case, fairly high end systems. Here's the graph.

Apart from an interesting win over the Gigabyte (fully reproducible) at 1024x768, the SOYO was actually slightly slower than the other KT333 board in this benchmark with the P4 based system taking home all the spoils.

In the real world, the performance of the two KT333 boards was identical. So on to Serious Sam: The Second Encounter. It's our 2nd OpenGL based benchmark after Quake3 (you may see other sites using the D3D mode) and it's a decent test of overall system performance. Here's the graph.

Big wins for the P4 here at all resolutions with the SOYO and the Gigabyte fighting for the runners up spot with the XP2200 at the helm. Nothing really exciting with very small wins for the SOYO over the Gigabyte at all resolutions.

Let's see how that matches to Aquamark before a look at some non 3D based tests that stess other factors in the system.
