Power Tests
The reason for the high all-core power consumption of the Core i9-10900K rests with how Z490 boards apply turbo frequencies. BIOSes have been coming in thick and fast. The latest ones ensure the chip can run at an all-core 4.8GHz (minimum) under prolonged load. Such a move bypasses the chip's 125W TDP. In MSI's case, that means 1.247V and around 200W of CPU package power.
It's interesting that the gaming power-draw is low in comparison to Ryzen. This is peculiar to the MSI board and this game, however, as running the same test on an Aorus and Asus, as you will see in upcoming reviews, leads to around 360W.
Still, no need to be alarmed, because even a solid 500W PSU can power these high-end rigs with ease.
