Benchmarks: System and Gaming
The MSI GT72 and PC Specialist Defiance 17 are the two closely matched laptops in our lineup. MSI has the upper hand in the PCMark test - we're chalking that down to a much quicker RAID storage system - but there's little to separate the two in the 3DMark and 1080p Aliens vs. Predator tests.

We know that the GTX 980M is a potent choice for laptop gaming, and it's ideal if you want to maintain smooth gameplay at 1080p with every setting cranked up to maximum. Interesting to note that the MSI GT72 is quicker in terms of in-game performance - we doubt the larger frame buffer would make much of a difference, and we've been unable to determine why the Defiance 17 isn't quite as fast.
