Final thoughts and rating
There are plenty of reasons to like the Acer Aspire 5745DG, but probably only one reason to buy it; you've got to be won over by the idea of 3D content.
If you happen to have a collection of Blu-ray 3D titles or a camera that can take 3D photos, a 3D notebook could be the perfect way to enjoy your media. But let's be honest, that's a pretty big if.
NVIDIA's 3D Vision technology is well implemented, the accompanying GeForce GT 425M GPU makes light work of playing back high-def 3D movies, and Acer's overall package includes an excellent keyboard, a thoroughly enjoyable display and a Blu-ray optical drive.
But priced in the region of
£830 for a Core i3 model or £1,000 for the reviewed
Core i5 option, the Aspire 5745DG is a lot like a 3D TV; it's more
expensive than 2D alternatives, based on a seemingly-uncertain
technology, and heavily reliant on available content.
The Good

Very good performance
