Prioritising performance at the expense of battery life, Lenovo offers the T400s with a choice of 2.4GHz or 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors, as opposed to slower ultra-low-voltage models. Memory options are plentiful, and solid-state storage is available for a further performance boost.

As a spec sheet, the obvious omission is the lack of discrete graphics options - with Lenovo providing only integrated graphics in the form of Intel's GMA 4500MHD. Performance, then, should be ample for everything other than 3D gaming and should suit Lenovo's target audience of business users.

In an odd twist of fate, our review sample ships with a configuration selection unavailable on the Lenovo UK website - a model with a 2.4GHz processor can't be equipped with a solid-state drive. As a result, we've had to estimate pricing of our test notebook at around the £1,900 mark.

Pricing for a basic multi-touch model starts at £1,492.44 and rises to over £3,000 with a host of added extras - including 8GB of DDR3 memory, a 256GB solid-state drive and a Blu-ray recorder.
