The performance difference between the two identically-clocked GeForce 9600M 512MB graphics cards in the first two laptops can be explained by PC Specialist using the GPU with a 64-bit memory bus whilst Zepto pays a little extra for the 128-bit-width model.

MSI's Mobility Radeon HD 3850 512MB also does well, especially in Call of Duty 4.

Ramping up the resolution to the panel's native 1,440x900 Enemy Territory returns an average frame-rate of 36.5fps (just about playable) and Call of Duty 4 some 28.9fps.

The use of a larger-than-normal battery helps a lot here, obviously, and the Enigma retains around two-thirds of the charge when an hour has been played. Incidentally, playing Iron Man on Blu-ray for the same duration resulted in 60 per cent remaining. What's more, the entire film - all 1hr 58m of it - can be played on a single (full) battery charge, leaving around 20 per cent, which is cool.
