ScienceMark 2.0, Pifast
Starting off, as always, with a look at memory bandwidth and latency. The reason why the Pegasus 650's memory bandwidth is higher and memory access latency is lower than the seemingly equivalent Dell's is down to Rock pre-overclocking the Pentium M 770 CPU from its default 2.13GHz up to 2.24GHz. Free performance, if you will, which is manifested in better results.
All of which means that Rockdirect's lithe laptop is just a whisker behind a desktop Athlon 64 4000's performance in the number-crunching Pifast test. The extra clock speed helps the Pegasus 650 to an easy second place, in front of more expensive laptops. Impressive.
