Gaming benchmarks

Gaming tests were undertaken at 1024x768, to see what kind of performance both the discrete ATI Mobility Radeon X700 128MB and Intel's onboard graphics could provide. We don't expect the MR X700 to be as fast as the two cards contained in the desktop-replacement laptops, however.

A score of 2,239 marks at the benchmark's default resolution indicates that the Pegasus 650, with retail models sporting a 1680x1050 native resolution, will struggle to play the very latest games with quality settings turned up. The onboard score is, well, slideshow-like

DOOM 3 runs and looks fine when interpolated down to 1024x768. Screen size interpolation is another of the Pegasus 650's strongpoints, meaning that non-default resolutions look reasonably good. 1680x1050 would necessitate a lowering of the game's IQ settings.

Far Cry is also smooth at the tested resolution. Think of the Pegasus 650's discrete graphics card as something akin to a low-to-midrange desktop card. Onboard graphics are a serious no-no for anything much more taxing than Minesweeper.
