Benchmarks: Temperature and Noise

Heat and noise are the areas in which the X7 DT v8's feathers become ruffled. The laptop struggles to keep cool when gaming, and though throttling is kept to a minimum, the chassis does become hot and bothered. The area just above the F12 key appears to be a hot spot, reaching a toasty 50ºC on the surface, and it's even warmer on the underside; we certainly wouldn't want to game with this system on our lap.

A by-product of the heat is excessive noise. The duo of internal fans can always be heard clearly and become quite off-putting when either processor is put to work. Gamers accustomed to high-end laptops won't be bothered, but if you're used to a quiet or silent system, you might be surprised by the racket, and not in a good way.
