Intel's Core i7-7700HQ has become the go-to solution for manufacturers seeking a potent CPU for a mid-sized laptop. The quad-core, eight-thread part offers speeds of up to 3.8GHz and delivers excellent results in both single- and multi-core workloads.
The same chip features in five of the eight laptops on show, however the ZenBook Pro UX550VD does fall off the pace slightly in the more demanding HandBrake test. Our logs reveal that this is due to the processor occasionally dialling down frequency in order to keep temperature in check.
