Absurdly violent and increasingly gruesome at every turn. It's fast, it's frantic, it's Doom. A game that needs no introduction to PC enthusiasts, this 2016 reboot brings hell's evil forces to life with updated visuals and is without a doubt one of the most eagerly anticipated launches in years.
There's a small throughput issue at 2,560x1,440 where SLI is really no faster than a single card. Upping the resolution ante to 4K shows a 35 per cent gain over a single card, which is considered on the low side for SLI. The number isn't that much higher than a single GTX 1080, so if playing Doom is your number-one priority for a new gaming PC, a single card looks like the better bet.
And the frame-time results back this up There's a little less latency on the SLI setup, which is to be expected as it has higher frame rates, but the gap is actually smaller than what the average frame rate would suggest. Just for kicks, we ran the same analysis on the MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X variant and found its 99th percentile time to be 17.73ms, or marginally better than the GTX 1070 SLI pairing.
