Overclocking

There have been unconfirmed reports of GTX 1080s being able to hit Warp 10, but these should be taken with another pinch of salt as your real-world mileage will vary. With stock voltage and an increased power target, we were only able to push boost frequency from 1,936MHz to 1,985MHz. Anymore resulted in instability, though we found plenty of room to manoeuvre on the memory front, as the GDDR5X frame buffer didn't skip a beat at 11Gbps.

We've opted against pumping any additional voltage through the Strix 1080's veins, yet if you're that way inclined, Asus tells us it has managed core speeds of up to 2,145MHz in its own labs.

Our overclock proved perfectly stable and ekes out another seven per cent or so in performance terms.
