Fallout 4

Homepage: fallout4.com | Publisher: Bethesda Softworks | Developer: Bethesda Game Studios

Introduced as the fifth major entry in the series, Fallout 4 takes place in post-apocalyptic Boston in the year 2287, 210 years after a Nuclear war. Not the most uplifting environment, but there are plenty of open environments to explore and the visuals, especially on PC, are at times dazzling.

The GeForce GTX 1070 uses a die that's close to half the size of the GTX 980 Ti. TDP is 40 per cent lower, as well, so what you're seeing is last generation's best GPUs matched by a card that could be a good fit for a miniITX form factor, if an AIC is so inclined.

Readers who have a GeForce GTX 970 and find that it doesn't have quite enough puff at the common 2,560x1,440 resolution for games set to ultra quality - an average 49fps in our benchmark - see a near-60 per cent uplift in performance. More pertinently, the frame rate goes from reasonably smooth to silk.
