3DMark is the latest version of this hugely-popular synthetic benchmark. Making use of DX11 features such as tessellation, compute shaders and multi-threading, it provides modern-day results and is available as a free download.

3DMark gets us off and running and it teaches us a valuable lesson: the numbers on the box aren't the be-all and end-all. Inno3D offers the same core speed as Gigabyte's G1 Gaming, and when you factor in the overclocked memory, you would think the iChill X3 would have the upper hand.

It's a close match-up between the two, however Gigabyte's card edges ahead on account of its nimble boost profile. During testing, the G1 Gaming would ramp up to 1,380MHz, compared to 1,329MHz for the iChill X3.
