Overclocking
We were surprised to see Sapphire's meagre overclock in place. The rationale behind it, the company says, is to let users decide just how fast to run the card by overclocking it themselves. That makes some kind of sense, but we see no reason why such an elaborate cooler shouldn't be pushed out of the box - something like 1,100MHz on the core and overclocked memory to boot.
Whatever the case, the card runs a reasonable amount higher without touching the voltage. We managed a rock-solid 1,135MHz core and 6,800MHz memory.
Giving you that little extra and leapfrogging a GTX 980 into the bargain, overclocking is worth it if you want to wring more performance in games that aren't particularly smooth at 4K - GTA V being a prime example.
