Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory performance
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, heavy on shaders, provides double the X1950 Pro 256MiB's performance at both resolutions. The SC: CT engine has always been responsive to multi-GPU setups, so the single-PCB Sapphire X1950 Pro Dual 1GiB puts in an excellent showing and beats out every other comparison GPU.
Two aspects to note when we dial in HDR (High Dynamic Range) effects. The first is that NVIDIA cards' performance increases in comparison to AMD's. The second, and more prescient as we spoke about it earlier, is the relatively poor performance of the Sapphire Dual card.
Performance drops off to barely above a regular Radeon X1950 Pro's. It also highlights one intrinsic problem with multi-GPU technology (on one PCB), that is, the reliance on the driver and tech. to deliver the expected gains over a single card. Here, obviously, it falls short.
