Racing games can offer dazzling visuals when delivered at buttery-smooth framerates. Grid Autosport is a prime example and is benchmarked with maximum quality settings plus 8xMSAA at FHD, 4xMSAA at QHD and 2xMSAA at 4K UHD.

Think of the best of the last generation of Nvidia and AMD GPUs, add on about 50 per cent more performance at 4K, and you're just about there.

A note of caution: Titan X is undeniably fast, according to the benchmarks, yet well-overclocked GTX 980s from various partners aren't that far behind. One reason for this is that, unlike partner cards, the reference model toes the GPU boost line fairly closely, averaging 1,110MHz across our six games.

Grid, on the other hand, is relatively easy to handle at 4K even with all in-game settings cranked to maximum. A cheap as chips Radeon R9 290 provides a smooth experience at this lofty resolution.
