Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory performance

In Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory the X1950 Pro cards take the lead again. The Sapphire ULTIMATE's slightly higher memory clock speed gives it a minor speed boost over the ASUS EAX1950Pro and the reference card.
The X1950 Pros all average over 70FPS while the GeForce 7900GS comes in about 5FPS slower. However, they all provide playable framerates - even at the 1600x1200 setting.

It's a different story when we turn HDR on, though. The framerates for all the X1950 Pro cards chug down to just above the key 60FPS margin in 1280x1024 with AA turned off. The GeForce 7900GS can't keep up even at that resolution, though, and crawls down to just under 57FPS. Whilst this means you're going to get the occasional amount of slowdown, SC:CT is just playable on all these cards.
In 1600x1200 the games up. All the X1950 Pro cards benchmark at around 48FPS, while the GeForce 7900GS drops way below, to an even more sluggish 42FPS. For a third-person game like SC:CT these frame rates are just about playable, but if you were playing an FPS at these framerates you'd be at a distinct disadvantage.
