Texture Filtering and Antialiasing Performance

UT2003 is used to examine the effect of IQ performance on X800 XT PE. I chose the test specifically for its CPU limited nature. Many games you'll run on X800 XT will become CPU/system limited, so for some titles, you can get 'free' AA and AF from your new purchase. The same principles also apply to current released hardware, but it's very much in evidence here.

IQ Performance

Compared to the 6800 Ultra tested three weeks ago, X800 XT maintains a much flatter AF performance drop off, with all modes being 'free' to the same extent.

AA has a more pronounced drop off, but at those framerates, it's arguable that you'd care. 16X AF and 6X3T AA is a very easy proposition on UT2003 with a decent system behind the X800 XT.

X800 XT's fillrate advantage over the 400MHz 6800 Ultra is in evidence.
