3DMark03

FutureMark are the authors, DirectX 9.0 is the API of choice this time, making use of Shader Model 2.0 capabilities on the installed display device, along with the older PS versions afforded by DX8.

3DMark03

The 5900XT has no problem fending off the other two GPUs in 3DMark03, indicating much stronger DX9 performance than those GPUs. 3DMark03's PS and VS tests back that up, with Pixel Shader performance to match the Radeon 9600XT and comparable Vertex Shader performance to the 5700 Ultra. Multi-texturing, as measured by 3DMark03, is an easy win for the 5900XT, as expected due to its extra texture unit per pipe.

While 3DMark03 is somewhat prophetic in terms of predicting the general performance of today's 3D accelerators, its still worth investigating performance in other ways, especially with game tests.
