XFX GeForce 7900 GS Extreme Edition 256MiB

XFX has gone down the reference route as far as its GeForce 7900 GS' appearance is concerned. This 'Extreme Edition' is one of four models offered by XFX, with the UDP3 (525/1550) and UDD3 (600/1600) being even more Extreme.

This model, the UDE3, is clocked in at 480MHz core and 1400MHz RAM, up from the Inno3D and reference cards' default 450/1320 setting.

The front highlights the bare RAM and SLI connector on the top right. We found the reference, thermo-controlled fan to be a little noisy in full-blown 3D mode, but with an ambient testing temperature of 23C and idle/load of 50/71C, we're not wholly surprised.

Identical to the Inno3D card, this XFX features twin dual-link DVI ports but no HDCP support. There's no VIVO functionality on either card

The sticker confirms the 'Extreme' nature of this SKU.

Hardware summary

A strict reference design but will the added bonus of core and memory overclocking.
