Half Life 2

Half Life 2

G80 just chews through the rendering work asked for by Half Life 2's Source engine, doubling 7900 GTX's performance (or more) at every stage, all while making X1950 XTX look very silly as well.

Quake 4

Quake4

G80's Z/stencil-only and colour-only rates, as well as its general shading prowess, are likely the reasons for the hefty wins in Quake 4. Note X1950 XTX overtake 7900 GTX at 4 megapixels, a workload the 8800 GTX has zero issue with here.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

SC:CT

Splinter Cell: CT is the poster child in our tests that highlights that software pays a part in the performance of a 3D application too. We think (but aren't 100% sure without profiling) that SC:CT might be a better fit for ATI's fast Z-reject rate at large pixel counts than NVIDIA, even in G80. Regardless, you aren't guaranteed a win with G80, it's just highly likely.
