The poor performance of the ATI cards lies with the Catalyst 4.1 driver set. The 4.2s eradicate the problem. We're not so much concerned with ATI's performance than with the performance delta between NVIDIA cards priced at positioned at roughly the same level. In that sense, the FX 5700 Ultra is doomed. The ATI Radeon 9600XT failed to run the test at the highest setting.

Again, it's a little surprising that the FX 5700 Ultra matches the FX 5900 XT's performance in Call Of Duty. It's difficult to explain why, too. Whatever the case, we're adamant that it is the better card in almost every respect.
