The gains derived from greater fillrate power appear to be more than offset by a lack of bandwidth. The DeltaChrome S8 comfortably lags behind the pace set by the 9800SE AIW. The benchmark was smooth and produced repeatable results. The graph also highlights the fact that when moving on to 1280x1024 the S8 suffered a smaller drop in performance.

This graph appears to confirm the S8's ability to drop performance in a linear fashion. The benchmark showed no visual distortions or anomalies, yet visual quality appeared to be a notch lower than the AIW's. We just feel as if the card's potential is being hampered by the decision to use either the 128-bit memory bus or 600MHz RAM. NVIDIA's answer to the narrow bus, for example, has been to raise on-board RAM frequencies to the 1GHz barrier.
