UT2003
  • Author: Epic
  • DirectX Class: 8.1
  • Pixel and Vertex Shaders: No
  • Other: High resolution textures show massive detail when aniso. is applied

A solid showing in UT2003. The test here is the Antalus Flyby using maximum quality. As it's a flyby, the average FPS can be misleading. In-game play would probably halve the framerates obtained here. So for playability's sake we would look at something along the lines of 1024x768 with 2x AA and 4x AF. That's perfectly reasonable for a game that looks as stunning at UT2003.

Serious Sam 2

  • Author: Croteam
  • DirectX Class: 8.1
  • Pixel and Vertex Shaders: No
  • Other: Uses OpenGL, supports quad pass multitexture and game applied aniso

Serious Sam 2's benchmark encompasses a more pertinent run through. We're adamant that the average framerates here are indicative of what the user would likely experience in the game itself. The Leadtek A360TD was smooth at 1024x768 4x AA 8x AF. That's not too bad for a card that costs not much more than £100. Add in the qualities of quietness, small PCB size and lack of auxilary power.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004

  • Author: EA Sports
  • DirectX Class: 9.0
  • Pixel and Vertex Shaders: Yes (unknown versions or amount of effects)

Something's amiss with the FX 5600 Ultra here. The Leadtek A360TD FX 5700 puts in a credible performance against the 9600XT, a card which is priced just above it. If you have a look at the comparative image quality shots from a few pages ago, you'll see that both cards produce near-identical visual outputs. All in all, a decent set of benchmarks returned by a GPU that really should have debuted in place of the maligned NV31.

Let's wrap it up now.
