TW2004, overclocking tests

  • Author: EA Sports
  • DirectX Class: 9.0
  • Pixel and Vertex Shaders: Yes (unknown versions or amount of effects)

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 is a new addition to our benchmarking suite. It consists of a replay for a hole in one at the Bethpage course. The average FPS is measured by FRAPS v2.0. All options are set to maximum and screenshots from both ATI and NVIDIA cards produce near-identical images. The maximum resolution for ATI cards appeared to be 1280x1024x32. That's why the most difficult test has been knocked down from the usual 1600x1200.

The Hercules 3D Prophet 9800XT rules the roost at the default test resolution and maintains its lead to the end. An impressive showcase of R360 power.

We mentioned that the sample overclocked to 450MHz GPU and 770MHz memory. AquaMark3 and UT2003 were both rerun at the harshest setting of 1600x1200 4x AA 8x AF to see what effect the increased speeds had on results.

Around a 10% gain. Wouldn't it have been nice if the card debuted at this speed ?

We guess that cards can never be fast enough. Users will want 100FPS+ on this benchmark now.
