AquaMark3, X² - The Threat
AquaMark3- Author: Massive
- DirectX Class: 9.0
- Pixel and Vertex Shaders: Yes (mixed mode, PS1.4 and PS2.0)
The comparative FX 5900 Ultra 256MB talks a good fight at the default test without any serious image enhancement. That talk is just that, as it falls significantly behind the Radeon pairing with higher I.Q applied. AquaMark3 can probably be considered to be a decent test of cards' DX9 ability. In that case, the Hercules 3D Prophet 9800XT has little to worry about. As expected, it keeps a steady lead over the 9800 Pro and bashes the FX 5900 Ultra card around at the more esoteric testing resolutions.
X² - The Threat
- Author: Egosoft
- DirectX Class: 9.0
- Pixel and Vertex Shaders: Yes (unknown versions or amount of effects)
In X² - The Threat, the comparison NVIDIA FX 5900 Ultra 256MB board behaves almost exactly like a Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB card. With that being the case, it's not too difficult to see that Hercules' 9800XT will remain unchallenged for benchmarking superiority. NVIDIA's cards appear to be jerky with the official 52.16 drivers, but this doesn't seem to hinder the benchmarking result to any great degree.
