Quake 3 v1.30
Quake 3 has long since transitioned from a card benchmark to a useful system bandwidth test at default settings, but it remains a good card benchmark when the resolution is cranked up and IQ is applied. With a huge range of games using the engine, or a modified enhancement of John Carmack's original renderer, the performance is well worth looking at, even a few years on from first launch.Being a DX6 class test, it's no surprise to see the FX5900 Ultra lead the way in Quake 3 performance, at all test resolutions and settings.
It simply has more under the hood. Pushing Q3 style rendered pixels around is light work for either board, so the one with the biggest clocks would always win.
Something a bit more relevant to the class of accelerator next.
