Software Setup II

After you've setup MMC and EASYLOOK, the TV tuner is probably next. Just like a regular TV, it needs to be told what TV channels to tune in to. First start of the TV tuner applet brings up the dialogs to tune in the software.

Depending on where you live, the software already knows the base channels in your area, and can autoscan for them quickly, otherwise you can do a full scan, taking about 5 minutes. In the UK, the software missed Five, our most recent terrestrial station, but the other stations are picked up OK during an autoscan.

As you can see, you are then asked for a multi-digit numerical parental control password. I initial wondered why only digits, but seeing as though the primary interface for the TV is the RemoteWonder, it made perfect sense. It simply lets you lockout certain channels, with the software or EASYLOOK asking you for the pass code to get access when needed.

Then it makes sure you've got your audio cables hookup up OK, and a simple audio test is done.

You are then asked, as you can see above, to choose the default recording format for any captured TV shows. It recommends its own proprietary format, which uses the least CPU power, but you do get a choice of more 'open' formats, and you can recode any captured video using something like VirtualDub after capture.
