3DMark 2001SE

3DMark 2001SE v330 starts the ball rolling.

One shouldn't pay too much attention to the ~350-mark deficit to the 9800 Pro. This resolution is greatly influenced by the subsystem. This Gainward powerd by, say, an Athlon 650 would struggle to break 10,000 marks.

These cards are all about image quality, so let's apply some. Same resolution but with 4x FSAA and 8x aniso.

Vroom, vroom. The 5900 Ultra, powered by lots of raw GPU and memory speed, together with NVIDIA's very latest bandwidth-saving and compression techniques, allows the Gainward card to forge ahead when some eye candy is used. Let's ramp up the resolution and make the cards really work.

The benchmark loves a card's multi-texturing ability. The Gainward NV35 Ultra obliges in no uncertain fashion. Is this benchmark just a case of driver optimisations, or is it a sign of things to come ?. Let's test Comanche 4, a real-world benchmark, to find out.
