UT2003 2x AA, 4x AF
The XFX GeForce4 Ti 4800-SE has shown itself to be a reasonable performer in the benchmarks that have gone before. However, enhanced image quality, via antialiasing and anisotropic filtering, is what we're striving for now. The XFX uses similar algorithms to the more expensive Radeon 9700/9800 series, in that it employs multisampling antialiasing and adaptive anisotropic filtering. With comparatively limited bandwidth and taxing algorithms, a substantial performance hit was always going to be incurred. Let's see what kind of hurt is put on the card by re-running the UT2003 flyby matches with, firstly, 2x AA and 4x AF.
Ouch. The Achilles Heel of the Ti series is exposed for all to see. Its implementation of image enhancing features leaves a lot to be desired. The UT2003 flyby is particularly savage on both the antialiasing and anisotropic filtering fronts.
