XFX GeForce 7900 GTX XXX Edition Board Exam

XFX clock their GeForce 7900 GTX XXX Edition at 700/900, up from the reference clocks of 650/800, using the reference cooler and PCB.

The XFX sticker gives the vendor game away but otherwise it's staid reference for XFX's XXX Edition. That's no bad thing, though, since we're big fans of the cooling hardware which does a great job. The only real downside is that it's dual-slot, but then a pair of taken-up slots has been a mainstay of the very high end for a good while.

Round the back there's nothing to report on, XFX using the reference PCB for this product. The backplane shows off the pair of dual-link DVI ports for display output.

Summary

You can't argue with the cooling hardware and the clocks for this overclocked 7900 GTX, XFX sticking to what's good while improving performance by some 7% overall on paper, which is enough to make it easily one of the fastest single graphics boards yet shipped to consumers.

Let's see how it's presented.
