Benchmarks - Just Cause 2

Just Cause 2 is one of the older titles in our suite and uses DX10 visuals. It's no longer cutting edge, but it's still a lot of fun and can be used to cross-reference older reviews.

The EVGA GTX 660 FTW Signature 2 puts up a solid showing in this title from 2010. Ramped up to the highest settings available in-game, performance at 1080p, the target resolution, is sound.

Performance evaluation - 3GB vs. 2GB

We've also examined the performance of the EVGA card against a Gigabyte GTX 660 OC equipped with a 2GB framebuffer. Looking at the per-second results from the 2,560x1,600 tests, which is where the highest load is imparted onto the GPUs, there's no instance where the 3GB framebuffer helps smooth out performance, as far as we can discern.

There's little reason to use a >2GB framebuffer on a GeForce GTX 660 GPU, then, and its real-world value is questionable - at least in today's games.
