Benchmarking

As the demands placed upon the few GF FX cards are so huge at the moment we were unable to be as thorough as we would have liked with our review benchmarks. Our time was spent carrying out as many tests as we could in the time the card was available, there is certain to be the odd strange looking result. The benchmarks were only run once. Unfortunately due to the extreme time constraints available to us, and in an effort to bring you this very early, exclusive UK look, NVIDIA have however assured us that they will be able to make available a card for extended testing in the coming days. As it is we believe that HEXUS has undertaken the widest, 'hands-on' platform testing yet published.

All in all the benchmarks are able to demonstrate the truth about the performance of the GF FX compared to the Radeon 9700 Pro.

All of the benchmarks carried out were at stock motherboard speed (133Mhz FSB Intel and 166Mhz FSB AMD). Both the Radeon and the GF FX were run at stock core and memory speeds.

Where possible, tests were run at 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 resolutions. Each test was run with antialising (AA) set to off and set to 4x. Anisotropic filtering was tested at a resolution of 1024x768 only.

On with the testing....
