System Setup, Notes, Issues

As I stated in the introduction I am going to run all the tests in a few combinations. So let me tell you what the test systems are.

Here's a quick rundown of the test systems should you wish to compare benchmark results with your own.

- Shuttle SS51G run in DDR333 mode. Pentium 4 2.8
- Shuttle SN41G2 run in DDR 266 mode XP2400+
- (DDR266 was the fastest mode in my recent review)

Common components

- Albatron GeForce4 Ti 4680 128MB at stock speeds (250/550)
- Albatron GeForce4 Ti 4680 128MB overclocked (speed later)
- 256MB Winbond pc3200 C2.5 run at 2-5-2-2
- 80GB Seagate Barracuda ATA100 Hard Drive
- Liteon 40125W
- 19" Compaq MV920 monitor

For dual channel mode in the SN41G2 a stick of Corsair pc3500 was added.

Software

- Windows XP Professional Build 2600.xpclient.010817-1148
- Bundled Motherboard drivers
- Detonator XP 40.72 drivers
- RivaTuner
- 3DMark 2001SE
- Comanche 4 benchmark
- Serious Sam 2 Demo
- Quake 3 v1.30
- Code Creatures Benchmark
- UT2003 Demo

Notes

I'm running the memory with Cas 2 5 2 2 timings in the respective modes. All benches run @ 1024/768 resolution unless stated and are the average scores of 3 runs. The machine was rebooted between each run. All benchmarks run with sound disabled.

Issues

Unfortunately the SS51G could not recognise the PC3500 so all of its benches are run with 256MB of memory only.

Overclocking

During the overclocked benches a constant scrutinisation of the screen was carried out to ensure there was no corruption present during ang of the benchmarks.
