F.E.A.R., Black And White 2
F.E.A.R
F.E.A.R performance was a tie between GeForce 7800 GTX 512 and Radeon X1800 XT before the pixel-shader-munching X1900s arrived on the scene. The results tend to follow a simple pattern: a significant performance delta between X1800 XT and X1900 XT, with a much smaller rise from the XT to the range-topping XTX model. 48 pixel shaders do more than just look good on a spec. table.
Black And White 2
Black and White 2 performance is painful, no matter which way you look at it.
Performance musings
Based on the evidence of the 5 titles we've used to evaluate the cards' 3D performance, there's little doubt that ATI Radeon X1900 cards are faster than the outgoing Radeon X1800s. The performance gap between the two models depends largely upon just how shader-intensive a gaming title is. Ratchet up the resolution and the Radeon X1900 XT, running with an identical core speed and slower GDDR3 memory, can be almost 30% faster, as evidenced in the F.E.A.R results.Drawing a performance conclusion from the results, we can say that ATI has now wrestled the performance crown back from NVIDIA. That may only last until the GeForce 7900 is released in the near future, though.
