Overclocking

PowerColor's 1,000MHz overclock is one of the highest we've seen on a Radeon HD 7850, but we know from past experiences that AMD's Pitcairn Pro GPU can be pushed further.

How much exactly varies from card to card, but our review sample shows a lot of promise. With little effort, we had the card's core whizzing along at 1,200MHz with memory cranked up to an effective 6,000MHz. No two cards are ever the same, but our sample suggests that PowerColor's card is an excellent choice for some DIY tinkering.

With the massive overclock in place, the HD 7850 PCS+ climbs the charts in our Aliens vs. Predator benchmark. Running at 1,200MHz on core and an effective 6,000MHz on memory, it's able to fly past GeForce GTX 580 and make its way into the top four.
