3DMark 11 is the latest version of this hugely-popular synthetic benchmark. Making use of DX11 features such as tessellation, compute shaders and multi-threading, it provides modern-day results and is available as a free download.

There are four Radeon HD 7870 cards in our line up; AMD's reference board (1,000MHz/4,800MHz), XFX's Black Edition (1,050MHz/5,000MHz), Gigabyte's OC (1,100MHz/4,800MHz) and PowerColor's PCS+ (1,100MHz/4,900MHz).

Unsurprisingly, they each slot into the chart in a position dictated by their respective clock speeds. The XFX card, while more expensive, isn't quite able to match the higher-clocked Gigabyte and PowerColor offerings in terms of raw speed.
