Benchmarks - 3DMark11
3DMark 11 is the latest version of this hugely-popular synthetic benchmark. Making use of DX11 features such as tessellation, compute shaders and multi-threading, it provides modern-day results and is available as a free download.
OK, three things to look out for, folks. We already know the default performance of the GTX 680 and HD 7970 cards. Stuck in the middle is the GTX680-clocked HD 7970.
NVIDIA still holds the lead at both resolutions in this synthetic benchmark but the gap narrows at 2,560x1,600.
Normalised performance (Per) | GTX 680 | HD 7970 @ 680 speeds | HD 7970 |
---|---|---|---|
100% | 93.4% | 86.9% |
Normalised performance (Ext) | GTX 680 | HD 7970 @ 680 speeds | HD 7970 |
---|---|---|---|
100% | 95% | 86.4% |
We set the fastest GPU to the maximum 100 per cent performance rating. Other GPUs are then shown with a percentage rating depicting how close they get to the fastest. For example, the regular HD 7970 manages 86.4 per cent of the performance of the GTX 680, while the same-speed model achieves 95 per cent of the GTX 680's speed.
As we're comparing frequencies more than GPUs, the GTX 680 ekes a very slight win here.
