3DMark 11 is the latest version of this hugely-popular synthetic benchmark. Making use of DX11 features such as tessellation, compute shaders and multi-threading, it provides modern-day results and is available as a free download.

Right-o, boring analysis over, it's benchmark time.

We've described the GTX 680 architecture as potent. Our first benchmark bears out the gains made from one NVIDIA generation to the next, and from November 2010 to March 2012.

The GeForce GTX 680 is almost as quick as the twin-GPU GTX 590, a fact that may not come as a complete surprise once the plethora of CUDA cores and general improvements are taken into account.
