OK, we've put in the dual-GPU Radeon HD 6990 4GB and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 3GB for comparison purposes, to see just where the newest fits into the high-end GPU landscape.
And it fits in very nicely indeed, handily beating out the GeForce GTX 580 and Radeon HD 6970.

The table shows the HD 7970 is almost 50 per cent faster than a stock-clocked HD 6970, and it manhandles the GTX 580 with consummate ease. Yup, it's dreadfully fast in the right benchmark(s).
