Mafia II and Call of Duty: Black Ops

Mafia II hit the shelves last summer and has proved to be a big hit. We use the internal benchmark and dial-in antialiasing and high-quality settings.

The disparity between the 5,760x1,080 and 3,240x1,920 returns in Mafia II. What's interesting here is there's not much of a drop-off from 2,560x1,600 framerates. The game is pretty smooth for the most part, but we noticed very occasional pauses when playing through a level. Again, portrait wins out as the setup of choice.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Call of Duty: Black Ops set a new record as the highest-grossing entertainment release in history. The title is benchmarked with 4x AA and 16x AF, along with other high-quality settings. We FRAPS a 30-second section that's indicative of general gameplay.

In the Radeon HD 6990 review we commented on the fact that the subsystem was holding up the card at 2,560x1,600 settings. Stick on some more hurt with three full-HD monitors and performance is silky-smooth: lovely stuff. Guess what, it looks a lot better in portrait mode (3,240x1,920), too.
