Power consumption

Now this is telling. Increasing the frequencies and bringing an extra 128 shaders on line translates to an additional 35W power-draw when gaming. However, a regular Radeon HD 6970 - which is intrinsically faster - consumes fewer watts.

FurMark causes Radeon HD 6950/70 cards to modulate the frequency, and this reason makes it difficult to provide and apples-to-apples comparison against leading NVIDIA cards, whose power-monitoring software isn't as granular as AMD's.
