DiRT 2

DiRT 2, a lovely-looking racer and one of the first games to use a DX11 path, offers improved visuals whilst burning through the London map.

 Comparison (GTX 560 Ti faster) 1,680x1,050  1,920x1,080  2,560x1,600
 Faster/slower (per cent) +10.6  +11 +12.4

We guess the results need no explanation here.

Power-draw

NVIDIA makes claims that the GTX 560 Ti is a more power-efficient GPU than the GTX 460. We can infer this by the relative TDPs of the two cards - 170W vs. 160W - and the comparative performance at stock clocks, which we've shown to be around 33 per cent.

We put in a regular GTX 460 1GB card and increased frequencies to match the GTX 560 Ti, though no extra voltage was put through either GPU. Here's how the numbers game played out:

GPU/setting Idle COD: Black Ops  FurMark
GTX 560 Ti 101W  254W 304W
GTX 460 1GB 103W  267W 313W

Remember that these figures are for both GPUs at the same frequency. However, the Ti 560 uses an extra SM block for greater speed, which provides an additional 10 per cent improvement that we have seen in the previous graphs.
