Power consumption

We've seen that straight-out benchmark performance of the GeForce GTX 560 Ti sits in the vicinity of the Radeon HD 5870 and Radeon HD 6950 GPUs. But AMD GPUs have traditionally been strong in the power-consumption department, so it's worth investigating whether the GF114 core can match up.

The best number at idle.

A 254W total system power-draw figure is very good for an NVIDIA card, but both the aforementioned Radeons just beat it out.

Really stress the core - and the GPU's power-monitoring feature doesn't come into play, incidentally - and the newer Radeon HD 6950 pulls around 10 per cent fewer watts. Still, the GTX 560 Ti's numbers are pretty much where we would expect from a 384-shader NVIDIA part.
