Cranking up the core to 925MHz and the use of 2GB of GDDR5 memory pushes system-wide power-draw some 52W higher than a generic card. This is why, most likely, the card does without additional voltage regulation.

Yet the Vapor-X cooler beats out the reference model's easily enough, and it's powered by a fan that rarely becomes what we'd term noisy.
