How's that for a big bang? 3DMark Vantage, a synthetic benchmark, shows that ForceWare 180.48 gives the GeForce GTX 260 a significant performance boost, putting it leaps and bounds ahead of the Radeon HD 4870.
How it manages to achieve the results isn't entirely new, though. The performance boost is a result of NVIDIA's PhysX acceleration, and that's been doing the rounds since ForceWare 178.13 - the first release to bundle the additional PhysX software. There's no denying that the performance is there, but with few PhysX-enabled games readily available, let's see how it translates to a selection of current 3D titles.
